Built in 1870 and previously known as Teochew Kongsi, Han Jiang Teochew Temple is the community temple of Penang Teochew Association which was form in 1855 by six Teochew migrants. The associations acts as a safe house for immigrants to find shelter before settling down in the new land.
The exterior façade of Han Jiang Ancestral Temple is not attractive but the interior is ornately decorated. The archway with a dragon statue is just one of the many intricate sculptures in the temple.
