Run by a team of passionate Penangites, Coffee Addict is a café located in the heart of Georgetown. Coffee Addict does not emphasize on fancy decoration but more on a rustic, friendly and cozy environment to let tourists or their customers escape from the busy city.
Coffee addict is a newly opened café which started operation since August 2015. In just a few months, it has already gained the patrons’ loyalty with their friendly, customer-oriental service.
Justin, the co-founder, is a passionate barista who stations in Coffee Addict all the time during the opening days except on Tuesday, when the café is closed.
Justin started to be in close contact with coffee since the age of 16 as a part time barista. During that time, coffee was not even a hit in Malaysia. Justin was inspired in his twenties to start his own café. Like all entrepreneurs, he did not hit the right note in his first try. After that setback, he finally developed a way of his very own café, Coffee Addict.
Justin, not an eloquent person, is a charismatic barista who is able to customize a cup of coffee to the liking of individuals who loves coffee. The coffee beans that brew a cup of quality coffee was picked specially by the barista itself.
The signature coffee is named Dirty Chai, which is a tasteful blend of spices, cinnamon and aromatic coffee.
Besides coffee, Coffee Addict also serves a variety of food that is mostly bread based for breakfast, brunch, lunch and high tea to the nearby resident and tourists.
Reuvelto is a combination of omelette, sausages, capsicum, mushroom, onions and toast by side. Coffee Addict chooses the Spanish sausage which has heavier taste. The black pepper flavored sausage is warm and hot, not that spicy but a good match when mixed in omelette together with the rest of the ingredients. Toast is wheat bread, a bit dry but it is just nice eating together with omelette. You may use the toast as spoon to scope the omelette.
New York Bagel has a delicate display. Rye bagel was heated up and cut into half. The texture on the outside is crunchy and inside is soft and warm. The generous amount of smoked salmon, cream cheese, capes, onion and tomato are put around rye bagel neatly. This is to allow customers to enjoy the dish in various ways such as a burger, pizza or eat the bagel and salmon separately. Coffee Addict orders their rye bagel from one of their close friends.
For eaters who prefer foods that are more fillings, there are grilled cheese sandwiches that range from meat and non-meat. Jalapenos Bacon Grilled Cheese is slightly spicy, but goes well with the bacon and generous cheese. Grilled Cheese with Onions Confit & Rocket comes with caramelized onions that are not too sweet and perfect with pesto and rocket.
If you are around Georgetown during weekends, it is recommended to try their weekend specials that are different every week. Some of the chef-inspired dishes are local or fusion taste of pasta and noodles.
